Is it specifically the X-ratedness of Rage that's supposed to make it special, even though Captain Astro was presumably PG? Again on a meta-level I assume it's because the show writers didn't do the research, but given that Michael's supposed to be such an expert on comics it seems like a serious omission to not acknowledge the growing numbers of out superheros already in mainstream comics by 2002. [Edited to add: Apollo and Midnighter, from The Authority (DC/Wildstorm).
